Counting down to the trip...

So, in one day we will be going to the airport and will be heading to the Dominican Republic. It will be a group of 7 students, one parent, one youth leader and one teacher (me :))

We will be spending 10 days in the DR, serving in the community in various ministries alongside Tom, Dee, Maria and Roberto. I am excited to see the way this trip will impact the group spiritually. I am looking forward to new friendships and to new service opportunities. I pray and believe that the Lord will continue to show up and bless the people who are involved in making this a joint effort in exchanging cultures and the gospel.

DA TRIBE 2008

Lets make this a great year!!
I really would like this to be the forum that the leadership team uses to post ideas, comments  talk about students etc... Please if we discuss anything pertaining to a student we keep it confidential. Our goal is build trust with the students. Once this is established we will have a very effective ministry.

Hopefully  this site can be a reminder of meetings and upcoming events. We will put together a different site for the kids to view!!

See ya Sunday!

Hey Tribe leaders

If everyone can post a message to the blog - that would be great - So that we can make sure everyone is registered on the blog.

Stephen - I'll add you in as an administrator if its ok with you - so that you can make any changes along the way if you want.

I would just like to say it has truly been a rewarding experience working with you guys over the past few years in this vital ministry. I'm really excited about this team and what you guys will experience and accomplish this year with our high school students !!!

Even though, i won't be serving on the team with you guys any longer, i will still be supporting the tribe through working with Brooks and helping any way that i am needed.

Don't be too hard on Brooks, now

Great Start

Hey everyone,

First I would like to thank again everyone who came out on Thursday evening on short notice. I'm very encouraged by the willingness and commitment to this ministry by everyone. I know we will learn a lot from each other and from our students this year.

Although we did get rained on a couple of times on Friday night at Green Parrot, the senior high group had a good start with four students from Lyford Cay school. Thanks to Iliana, Toni and Kelly for making this happen.
I will be forwarding an updated student contact list so that we can personally contact all possible students for our next event on Friday the Oct. 19th. I will also be forwarding the lesson options and information so that we can get a headstart on the planning for the next group. I think we've already have a consensus that we will meet in the shack on the 19th. We will also be handing out contact updates on sunday morning during the service for all parents and students.

A special pat on the back to clive for a great start with the middle school group on Sunday morning. He ended up with 11 very engaged and excited students who are looking forward to next week. One of our former student ministries graduates Tyrone "snuggles" Johnson has decided to join clive on the middle school team. That is really good news. Welcome aboard Tyrone.

I really encourage everyone to forward their ideas and comments to others on the team. Also, I would like to remind everyone that we still have a blog page setup that would be a great way for us to communicate our ideas and thoughts as a team. We can also post pictures, articles, schedules, ideas etc... I have sent everyone an invitation to join the blog and will post this message as well.
To create an account, you just need to create a gmail address if you don't have one already.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thanks,

tim

Welcome to cyberworld

Welcome everyone to our first student ministries blog. Please use this space to share your thoughts, ideas and comments about our student ministries. We are never able to share everything on our minds when we are at an event or meeting. This provides a space to share our thoughts as they come to us. I am really excited about how god can use this team to make a tremendous impact on this critical age group in our community.
